School Visits and Workshops

We offer students a unique and enriching experience, providing a deep insight into Sikhism, the faith followed by Sikhs. Sikhism, also known as Sikhi, is a religion founded on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the nine Gurus who followed him. The Gurdwara, a Punjabi word meaning “the doorway to God,” is the place where Sikhs come together to pray, meditate, and engage in community service.

During a visit to our Gurdwara Sahib, students will have the opportunity to learn about the core beliefs, customs, and traditions of the Sikh faith. They will be welcomed into the Gurdwara with respect and open arms, as people of all faiths and backgrounds are always welcome in this sacred space.

One of the highlights of the visit is the chance to see the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs, which is treated with the utmost reverence. The Guru Granth Sahib is kept under a special canopy in the main prayer hall, symbolizing its status as the eternal Guru of the Sikh community. Children will learn about the importance of the Guru Granth Sahib in Sikh worship and how it guides Sikhs in their daily lives.

In addition to exploring the spiritual aspects of Sikhism, students will also have the opportunity to learn about various Sikh practices, such as the Langar, the community kitchen where free meals are served to all visitors, regardless of their background. This practice embodies the Sikh principles of equality, selfless service, and community spirit.

Through these educational visits, children gain a deeper understanding of the Sikh way of life, fostering respect and appreciation for the diversity of religious beliefs and practices in the world. Our Gurdwara Sahib is not just a place of worship, but also a centre for learning, where students can broaden their horizons and embrace the values of tolerance, inclusivity, and compassion.
